MANILA, Philippines — Korean Joo Young Lee scored a rare hat trick Sunday as Stallion Giligan's FC blasted Navy Red Juice, 6-0, in the United Football League at the University of Makati Field.
Lee scored in the 33rd, 50th and 75th minutes as the Stallions got off to a rousing start in the first division tournament.
The Ernie Nierras-coached Stallions finished second to Nomads in last year's second division and made the quarterfinals of the recently-concluded UFL Cup.
Other goal scorers for the team were Byeong Jun Yoon (19th), Bo Bae Park (77th) and Jomar Lestingio (84th).
Stallion Giligan's joined Kaya FC and the Loyola Meralco Sparks in the list of opening weekend winner.
Just European tournaments, the champion of the tournament will be determined through the most number of points after the end of the 18-game schedule.
